We gathered at the Audemars Piguet’s House in Los Angeles above Sunset Boulevard for a private watchmaking demonstration created exclusively for this group. More than a showcase of extraordinary craftsmanship, it was an evening to explore what watchmaking can teach us about the craft of leadership.
Leadership, like watchmaking, is ultimately an act of craftsmanship. It requires seeing the whole system, understanding how every small adjustment affects the larger mechanism, and recognizing that enduring performance depends on the harmony of many working together. Both demand curiosity, careful calibration, and the patience to build something that performs today while growing more valuable with time.
The finest watches are built to outlast their makers. The finest leaders build organizations, cultures, and people with the same intention. Their work is measured by what continues to thrive because of the care, discipline, and stewardship they invested along the way.
It was a fitting reflection for this community of leaders—individuals who have dedicated their careers to mastering their own craft. During our time together, we stepped into another master’s workshop and experienced the quiet discipline behind one of the world’s most enduring maisons, who reminded us that excellence is earned through countless deliberate decisions, many of them unseen.
We continued the evening with Dinner with Friends, also graciously hosted by Audemars Piguet, where the richest measure of time is the quality of the conversations it makes possible.
